Here is another of these large, eye-catching flowers. I find the horsemint spectacular flowers. And this year we have many of them. Funny fact: they are growing in the pasture from which I just removed the horses this spring 🙂

Morning Luxury
Just at sunrise I was out for some exercise – or so I told myself. The fact that I was carrying my camera is really all the evidence you need that I was really out there for a more artistic sort of exercise than strictly working up a sweat and raising my heart rate. This is what caught my attention first:

Good Sparkly Morning!
Every morning feels like a great morning if the sun is out and the air is cool. But some mornings are extra sparkly, when that sunlight refracts through the dew drops or frost crystals.
The world looks dusted in magic sparkles.
And a Brilliant New Year!
When the sun started sparkling in the frost, I grabbed my camera and headed for the pond. This was the first time since Buttercup was shot last fall that I felt like taking photographs.
I topped the bank of the pond, and was greeted by this awesome sight!

The summer was so dry in Oklahoma that we were worried we wouldn’t have any leaves left by autumn.

You can see for yourself, there are still a few leaves, especially on tough trees like these Hackberries. Wait! There is a hackberry tree growing around and above this one, but these leaves are those of the native wild plum.
