Greenbrier Glow
When hiking through the woods, certain things grab your attention and won’t let go. Greenbrier will reach out and physically snag the unwary hiker! This time, it was the glowing leaf that caught me and I avoided the thorns and trip lines :o)

The 4-H club washed their dogs at a dog wash. Great fun was had by all? Buttercup has been a great dog for our son!
Study in Gray
A victim of last summer’s drought, this pine tree fell over in high winds during the autumn (2011). Now it is all gray, bark, cones, even the needles are gray. It’s a beautiful study in shades of gray and contrasting textures.
Recalling the summer heat wave and drought
Last summer (2011), it seemed so crackly dry that there couldn’t possibly be anything left worth photographing. The temperatures were also oppressively hot, not just over 100 degrees farenheit, but around 110-112 degrees, making the idea of an outdoor venture a not so inviting idea. Still, I was itching to use my camera and glad when the thought occurred to me that I could document the effects of the drought on our little bit of land. Out I ventured and immediately found beautiful light glowing through many distressed leaves and blossoms. The beauty was still there for anyone willing to wander outside looking for it :o)
